Bahrain International Airport’s commitment to safety spotlighted during full-scale emergency exercise

Manama, Mar. 21 (BNA): The Bahrain International Airport Company (BAC) and its partners have successfully concluded the 17th comprehensive emergency exercise for Bahrain International Airport (BIA), demonstrating their ability to deal with diverse crisis scenarios and the airport’s effectiveness. emergency plan. The biannual exercise plays a major role in improving overall airport safety by evaluating the capabilities, readiness and effectiveness of emergency response and rescue services at Bahrain International Airport.

This year’s mock crisis simulation focused on a plane crash near Bahrain International Airport. A large-scale emergency alert was activated and teams from the Baghdad Airport Center and the Ministry of Interior took coordinated action to achieve a successful outcome. The exercise had participants, including volunteer actors playing injured passengers, national ambulances, firefighter and hazard vehicles, and a Medivac.

Bahrain Airport Company Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Yousef Al-Binfalah, said: “I would like to extend my thanks to everyone who participated in this exercise. Given the size of the new terminal compared to its predecessor, this was a huge challenge that required efficiency, teamwork, coordination and the highest levels of professionalism. All necessary measures were taken. To ensure that the operations of Bahrain International Airport, including the movement of aircraft and passengers, are not affected during this mandatory exercise.”

Al Binfalah added: “This was the largest emergency exercise to date and the airport community has proven once again that Bahrain International Airport is well prepared to deal quickly and effectively with any potential incidents that may occur. Bahrain International Airport hosts large-scale emergency drills every two years in accordance with regulations issued by Bahrain’s Civil Aviation Affairs, and global industry procedures implemented by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
