Bahrain delegation participates in TFTC meeting

Riyadh, Jan. 27 (BNA) The delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain, headed by Ambassador Nancy Abdullah Jamal, Head of Strategic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center (TFTC) and related advisory discussions.

The meetings were held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in the presence of Sheikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director of the Financial Intelligence Department at the Ministry of Interior and member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Bahrain.

In her statement, Ambassador Nancy Abdullah Jamal affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to supporting international efforts to combat the financing of terrorism and to enhance security and stability in the region through its membership in the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center. She called for the need to coordinate regional efforts under the umbrella of the Center to protect the regional financial environment.

She commended the concerted efforts of the competent authorities in the Kingdom of Bahrain by holding capacity-building workshops affiliated with the Center during 2021, in which more than 60 specialists participated. She reviewed the national efforts to combat the financing of terrorism and enhance the Kingdom’s international position in issues of peace and security.

It also presented proposals based on the relevant priorities of the Kingdom of Bahrain, which the Center and its members could adopt in the future, in the interest, security and stability of the region.

The meeting was attended by members of the Executive Committee of the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center and representatives of member states.

It is worth noting that the meeting comes as the first personal meeting of the Executive Committee after two years of virtual meetings, stressing the importance of concerted and intensified efforts in combating terrorism and its financing.
