Bahrain Bourse rings Bell for Financial Literacy as Part of IOSCO’s World

Investor Week 2022 Manama, October 3 (BNA): Bahrain Bourse (BHB), a self-regulating multi-asset market and affiliated member of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), announced its participation in the sixth Global Investor Week. (WIW) October 3-9.

The IOSCO WIW campaign will focus on investor resilience and sustainable financing.

WIW is a week-long global campaign to raise awareness about the importance of investor education and protection.

BHB joined 106 other global exchanges in the annual “Ring the Bell for Financial Literacy” initiative launched by the World Federation of Exchanges to promote financial literacy and raise awareness of the importance of financial inclusion.

Bahrain Bourse is hosting a virtual event titled “Ring the Bell for Financial Awareness” through a video campaign, featuring key participants from various listed companies as well as other key stakeholders to highlight the various awareness programs of Bahrain Bourse.

BHB will also launch an educational series campaign focusing on capital markets for the general public.

“Promoting investor education is a top priority for Bahrain Bourse, as evidenced by our various programs, and it is a great honor to be a part of this unique opportunity, as we collaborate with all stakeholders in the field of investor education and protection, both locally and globally.” Sheikh Khalifa bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, CEO of BHB, said.

He added that we look forward to introducing our latest developments and milestones, which will significantly increase the performance, transparency and services offered to investors.

“I welcome this sixth edition of IOSCO Global Investor Week. Over the past two years, we have seen an increasing number of retail investors participating in stock markets, in the context of the global pandemic,” said IOSCO Chairman and Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission CEO Ashley Alder. .

“These investors face new challenges, such as inflationary pressures and uncertainties stemming from geopolitical tensions, and financial education and investor protection play an important role in enhancing investor resilience and investor confidence to participate in financial markets on a properly informed basis.”
