Bahrain attends 9th meeting of GCC Standing Committee for Statistical Work

Jeddah, October 15 (BNA) Muhammad Ali Al Qaed, CEO of the Information and eGovernment Authority, headed the Kingdom’s delegation to the ninth meeting of the Standing Committee for Statistical Work of the Statistical Center for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. held here.

The meeting was attended by heads of statistical agencies in the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and the Director of Population and Demographic Statistics in the Information and e-Government Authority, Duaa Sultan Al-Harban.

Dr. Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Dosari, President of the General Authority for Statistics in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the Committee welcomed the attendees, wishing the Committee success in achieving its goals.

The committee commended the dynamic achievements in supporting the Gulf statistical work in line with the objectives of the economic and social policies of the Gulf states.

Among the other topics discussed were following up on the committee’s recommendations from the previous meeting and studying the importance of improving statisticians’ knowledge and skills through technical and professional courses that enhance their capabilities and knowledge exchange.

The committee also reviewed the progress made in studying the implementation of the decisions of the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf between 1981 and 2019 and their impact on the ground in the ten main areas that cover the Gulf common market, and the Information and e-Government Authority confirmed the completion of the project. in Bahrain.

The leader also attended the workshops accompanying the event, which emphasized the importance of exchanging statistical data between member states and the need to implement a statistical strategy.

The periodic meetings of the GCC Standing Committee for Statistical Work aim to enhance cooperation between Gulf statistical agencies and implement methods to achieve joint visions and strategies using statistical data. The committee presents recommendations that enhance the joint efforts of the GCC states in strengthening their statistical capabilities and institutions.
