Bahrain Ambassador in London hosts UK Home Secretary and GCC Ambassadors to UK

London, August 25 (BNA) The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Kingdom Sheikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa hosted the British Home Secretary Priti Patel and the ambassadors of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to the United Kingdom. The meeting focused on issues of common security concern.


The ambassadors conveyed the greetings of the interior ministers of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and affirmed the well-established Gulf-British relations.


The ambassadors of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries also welcomed the British government’s decision to implement the new “electronic travel permit” system that exempts citizens of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries from the UK visa procedures.


The security threats faced by GCC nationals residing and traveling to the UK were also discussed, with the ambassadors affirming that the issue of security and safety for GCC nationals is a top priority. They also highlighted the importance of developing a robust incident response plan.


In this regard, the Gulf side discussed the importance of Gulf-British security cooperation in the fields of training, capacity building and exchanging experiences.


For her part, Home Secretary Patel stressed that the British security authorities maintain the security and safety of everyone by intensifying response efforts. She also stressed the importance of expanding security cooperation between the GCC and the UK.
