Back from injury, 1st Liverpool goal for teen Elliott in cup

London, Feb. 6 (BUS): Young Harvey Elliott returned from five months injured and scored his first goal for Liverpool in a 3-1 win over Cardiff in the FA Cup on Sunday, the Associated Press reported.

Elliott produced a brilliant finishing touch in front of Kopp in the 76th minute to score the third goal for Liverpool, capping the 18-year-old’s recovery from a dislocated left ankle.

Diogo Jota’s 15th goal of the season had a breakthrough in the 53rd minute against the second-tier side with a header from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s free kick.

Liverpool’s new signing Luis Diaz was brought off the bench on his 58th minute debut – alongside Elliott – after arriving from Porto on Friday.

The Colombia international played an important role in Takumi Minamino’s crucial second goal, capturing the ball from Perry Ng on the sideline.

Although Jota missed his cut, Minamino didn’t, driving home under the corpse of goalkeeper Dillon Phillips in the 68th minute.

Cardiff’s substitute Robin Colwell reduced the difference in the 80th minute, but Liverpool held out to prepare a meeting with Norwich in the first week of March.
