AUBH contributes in NIAD afforestation campaign

Manama, April 3 (BNA): The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NAID), in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and the Supreme Council for the Environment, announced that the national campaign for afforestation (Forever Green) has received support from the American University. (AUBH) in the Kingdom.

The support included many environmentally friendly trees that are commensurate with the climatic nature that characterizes the Kingdom, as 350 seedlings of Persopus trees were planted in the Al-Muaskar area and 350 seedlings of Nile Fascilia trees in Al-Muaskar Street in the Southern Governorate.

These trees are characterized by their ability to adapt to harsh environmental conditions, especially in desert areas, in addition to their contribution to increasing soil fertility and tolerating drought and excess soil salinity.

Afforestation was inaugurated in the presence of the Secretary-General of Niyad, Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, William Hurt, Director of Operations at the American University in Abu Dhabi, and several engineers of the Southern Municipality and those interested in the agricultural sector.

This contribution reflects the patriotic spirit and sense of social responsibility of the American University in Abu Dhabi, confirming its support for government plans and national initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and achieving environmental sustainability.
