Attorney General receives Head of Special Investigation Unit

Manama, May 30 (BNA) The Attorney General, Dr. Ali bin Fadel Al Buainain, received in his office today the Acting Attorney General and Head of the Special Investigation Unit, Muhammad Khalid Al-Hazaa, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting, which was attended by Deputy Judicial Adviser to the Government Wael Rashid Bualai, shed light on the work of the Special Investigation Unit during the past decade and the measures taken regarding legal violations filed with it. The meeting also shed light on the development of the Special Investigations Unit, the training and awareness programs it has implemented, and the results of cooperation with national and international bodies concerned with human rights.


The Deputy Public Prosecutor praised the efforts of the head and members of the Special Investigation Unit, in cooperation with national human rights institutions, to ensure the rule of law and achieve criminal justice. He pointed to a gradual decline in crimes of torture and ill-treatment over the years to reach a decrease of 77%, which reflects the community’s confidence in the unit and its success in dealing with transparency and firmness with all legal and human rights violations.
