Manama, July 19 (BNA) Public Prosecutor Dr. Ali bin Fadl Al-Buainain issued Decision No. 32 establishing the “Drug Crimes Unit”, a unit specialized in investigating and disposing of drug and psychotropic crimes affiliated with the Public Prosecution in Muharraq.
The issuance of the unit comes as an improvement in the legislative structure and a strengthening of national efforts in confronting social and economic crimes.
The Public Prosecutor coordinated with the Sentencing Execution Prosecution and the Office of International Cooperation and Human Rights to circulate international arrest warrants and take legal procedures and agreements to hand over accused judicial delegations and control illegal financial flows.
The issuance required the unit to submit a semi-annual report on the progress of work to the attorney general, including an inventory of the types, sources and quantities of seized narcotics.
The unit will coordinate with national and international drug control organizations to effectively combat this type of crime and ensure prosecution.
