At least 12 dead, over 30 injured in bus fire in India’s Nashik city

Mumbai, Oct. 8 (BNA) A police official told Reuters that at least 12 people were killed and two in critical condition after a bus caught fire in the city of Nashik in the western Indian state of Maharashtra on Saturday.

Another official at the police control room in Nashik, 190 km north of Mumbai, India’s financial capital, said more than 30 injured were being treated at the local civil hospital while the cause of the accident was being investigated.

The bus caught fire after colliding with a diesel tank, according to local media reports. Videos on social media showed the bus engulfed in a huge fireball.

“I am concerned about the bus tragedy in Nashik. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones in this predicament,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Twitter, adding that the families of the deceased would get 200,000 rupees ($2,400) each, while the families of the deceased would get 200 One thousand rupees ($2,400). “I hope the injured recover as soon as possible. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to those affected,” Modi wrote on Twitter.
