the opportunity
Our GCR Tax Service Line operates as a team of highly experienced tax professionals who focus on providing efficient and effective resources to businesses in the region. Our goal is to improve quality, manage risk, create efficiency and increase value. Our market-leading approach combines standard, efficient processes, highly effective tools, and an extensive network of local tax and accounting professionals. Our clients benefit from an integrated, consistent, and flexible quality service to handle direct and indirect tax compliance, statutory accounting, financial reporting and tax accounting.
As part of the Middle East and North Africa team, you will provide quality services to clients across a range of industries. You will also lead a team that takes care of service delivery, coordination, problem solving and contract management for large-scale projects where you will need to manage and coordinate the provision of tax services by EY teams in the region.
Your main responsibilities
You will combine strong technical skills with practical business, legislative and industry knowledge to lead a team in the delivery of tax services. You will be responsible for a team to help manage our clients’ compliance and reporting needs. You will create, maintain and strengthen valuable internal and external relationships and ensure that the services provided to clients are of the highest quality.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of client engagements, monitoring progress and accomplishments, establishing necessary standardized processes, anticipating and identifying risks, escalation of issues as appropriate, and driving performance improvement solutions.
You will supervise high-performing teams, build a positive learning culture, and coach and mentor junior team members to help them develop. You will also be responsible for ensuring that our tax quality guidelines are adhered to.
If you are a communication and detail professional with a proven track record of management experience and are comfortable working across borders with a vast network of people and a large amount of data, then you would be ideal for this role.
To qualify for the role you must have
Bachelor’s degree with strong academic qualifications in accounting, business, finance, taxation or any related core fields.
MBA, MSc or other relevant advanced degree and/or professional qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA, CTA, ADIT or equivalent qualification.
Very solid knowledge and at least 4 years of experience in local and international tax rules/regulations, developments etc., ideally within a large professional services firm or similar environment.
A very strong background in tax accounting and tax auditing, ideally within a large professional services firm or similar environment.
Proven track record of managerial, organizational and project management experience.
Ideally, you will also have
Experience in dealing with multinational clients and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
In-depth commercial, legislative and industrial knowledge.
