Arab Parliament Speaker receives NIHR President

Cairo, March 1 (BNA) The Speaker of the Arab House of Representatives and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Observatory for Human Rights, Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asumi, received the President of the National Institution for Human Rights Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi.


The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation and exchange experiences.


The Speaker of the House of Representatives praised the achievements of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of human rights thanks to the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and his continuous interest in advancing the human rights system to the highest international levels.


He added that the implementation of the Alternative Penal Code, the Children’s Restorative Justice Law and the open prison system is in the interest of the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to raise Bahrain’s standing in the field of human rights implementation.


Al-Soumi praised the efforts of the National Institution for Human Rights in promoting a culture of human rights in the Kingdom, and affirmed the observatory’s readiness to cooperate to achieve the desired goals.


The head of the National Institution for Human Rights praised the role of the Observatory as an independent and credible Arab human rights institution that contributes to strengthening the Arab voice in the field of human rights.
