Arab League rejects European Parliament Resolution regarding human rights in Bahrain

Cairo, Dec. 19 (BNA): The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States expressed its full solidarity with Bahrain in its rejection of the European Parliament’s decision on human rights in Bahrain.

The League of Arab States said that it had recorded, during its follow-up over the years of the human rights situation in Bahrain, many positive developments, especially with regard to human rights initiatives.

The university said in a statement that Bahrain’s support for the establishment of the Arab Court for Human Rights, its ratification of the Arab Charter for Human Rights, and other positive political and human rights initiatives are among the developments Bahrain is witnessing.

The General Secretariat said that it refused in principle to politicize human rights issues or to treat them in a biased manner that is limited to attack and criticism, based on inaccurate and undocumented information, regardless of the situation on the ground or the complex.
