Arab League chief urged Somali parties to engage in national dialogue

Cairo, December 31 (BNA) The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, called today on all Somali parties to refrain from escalation and to spare their country large-scale violence.

In a statement, the Arab League quoted Aboul Gheit urging the Somali parties to put the people’s interests above any other consideration and to immediately engage in a national dialogue to preserve the state and pave the way for holding general elections as soon as possible.
