Maryland, June 19 (BUS): Apple Inc workers have voted to join a union, becoming the first retail employees of the tech giant to join a union in the United States.
The union said more than 100 workers in Tucson voted to join the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
The Regulatory Retail Employee Coalition wrote in a letter to Apple CEO Tim Cook that they have the support of the vast majority of our co-workers.
“This is something we do not oppose or create conflict with our administration,” they wrote.

“Nothing to be added at this time,” an Apple spokesperson told Reuters.
Union formation efforts have gained momentum at some of the major US companies including Amazon.com Inc and Starbucks Corp.
Some current and former Apple employees last year began criticizing the company’s working conditions online with the hashtag #AppleToo.
