Apple raises pay of many U.S. retail employees – Bloomberg News

Washington, Feb. 12 (BUS): Apple Inc. (AAPL.O) has raised the salaries of several US retail employees starting this month, Bloomberg News reported on Friday.

The increases range from 2% to 10% depending on the store’s location and role, and will go to sales staff, including technical staff at Genius Bar and some senior hourly workers, the report said.

The report added, according to Reuters, that the increases do not apply to all employees.

Apple is expanding its retail operations, betting that a combination of strategies developed before and during COVID-19 will make its stores more popular than ever.

Last year, it reportedly paid one-time bonuses of up to $1,000 to stockpile employees ahead of the busy holiday season.

Apple did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Its CEO, Tim Cook, will be paid in 2021 nearly $100 million thanks to stock grants, or about 1,447 times the average employee’s salary.
