Anti-Cybercrime Department warns against fraudulent calls

Manama, October 12 (BNA) The Anti-Cybercrime Department of the General Department of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security warned of the presence of fraudulent calls, asking citizens to provide them with a one-time password (OTP) for this purpose. Fraud and theft of banking information.


The directorate said in a statement today, that these calls are fraudulent operations with the intention of hacking the passwords of users of online banking services.


She added that “banks do not request any information or passwords via calls or text messages”, and urged the public not to answer these calls, and to report fraudulent calls to the 992 hotline of the General Administration of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security.
