The Supreme Council for Women cooperated with the Wilson Center to launch a report on women’s entrepreneurship in the countries of the Middle East and North Africa in general, and Bahrain, Lebanon and Tunisia in particular.
The study relied on facts and data from a variety of sources, ranging from national through the contribution of the Supreme Council for Women in the Kingdom to regional and international sources. It was studied and analyzed to identify the challenges facing women in the region and the positive developments in the field of supporting women, especially in the education sector.
The report praised the role of the second national plan of the Supreme Council for Women led by His Majesty the King’s wife and President of the Supreme Council for Women, Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, in the advancement of Bahraini women from 2013 to 2022, and the focus on promoting entrepreneurship, job opportunities and financial independence for women.
The report highlighted education as a component of the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, through which the government seeks to improve. its human capital through education and training.
The roles of Bahraini women in society have grown in terms of professions and entrepreneurship, who have also gained their rights through gender equality and equal opportunities over the years.
The report also referred to Bahrain’s leadership in the advancement of women in the Arab Gulf region, its signing of the Convention on Discrimination (in Employment and Professions) in 2000, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women in 2002, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights in 2006, and the International Covenant on Human Rights. economic, social and cultural in 2007.
The ambassador said that Bahrain adopts equal treatment for all in light of the development process of His Majesty the King.
The Chairman of the Equal Opportunities Committee at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, Dr. Faisal Hammad, participated in the discussion, as he indicated that the Equal Opportunities Committee is not only dedicated to the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, but rather in all government sectors and some private sectors, stressing the high percentage of women in the workforce.
Dr. pointed out. Hammad indicated that the committee’s policies are in line with the gender equality approach in terms of equal opportunities and wages.
