Alba’s Safety culture recognised with British Safety Council’s Award

Manama, June 5 / BNA / Aluminum Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), the largest aluminum smelter in the world excluding China, won the 2023 International Safety Award with appreciation from the British Safety Council (BSC), which came in recognition of its efforts to maintain a safe and healthy work environment during the year 2022.

The award was received by Alba’s Chief Executive Officer, Ali Al Baqali, during the International Safety Awards Gala Dinner at BSC which was held on May 19, 2023 at the Landmark Hotel, London, UK in the presence of Alba’s Safety and Health Director, Mohammed Khalil Saeed.

Commenting on this honor, Alba’s CEO, Ali Al Baqali said:

“We are honored to receive the British Safety Council Award of Merit once again as it underscores the culture of safety we have built across all our business – from our management offices to every job and shop floor at Alba. This award is for every employee and contractor’s staff for their commitment to personal and operational safety.”

Alba was also pleased to welcome, on 05 June 2023, a delegation from BSC consisting of Director Strategic Accounts (International and UK), Nusrat Khan, and Acting Head of Audit and Consulting, Phil Pennington, who joined the management of the company in the monthly safety review. The meeting that provides insights into the year-to-date performance of safety, health, fire and security indicators as well as environmental indicators.

The British Safety Council, founded in 1957, presents its annual International Safety Awards to honor organizations from around the world that have demonstrated their commitment to the prevention of workplace injuries and work-related illnesses.
