Madrid, November 5 (BNA) Barcelona is close to naming former midfielder Xavi as its new coach after his current club Al-Sadd announced that a deal to release him from his contract had been agreed.
Al Sadd CEO Turk Al Ali wrote on Twitter that the club had reached a settlement with Barcelona “after paying the release clause stipulated in the contract.
“We agreed to cooperate with Barcelona in the future. Xavi is an important part of Al Sadd’s history and we wish him success.”
Xavi, 41, will replace departing Ronald Koeman on the bench at the Spanish giants.
