Cape Town, July 31 (BNA): The next round of Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, scheduled for next September, has been postponed to allow the five continental teams heading to the World Cup to play better preparatory matches before the start of the tournament in Qatar, the Confederation of African Football. He said on Sunday.

The postponement has remained silent for weeks, especially after the date of the next Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ivory Coast was pushed back from June next year to January 2024, Reuters reported.

Senegal coach Aliou Cisse has been among the matches’ most vocal critics, meaning his country had to play two Nations Cup qualifiers, on home and away against Mozambique, in the last window of opportunity in September when they wanted to play against opponents. from other continents before the World Cup.

Senegal is expected to announce alternative matches soon.

Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco and Tunisia are the other African teams that will play in the World Cup finals.

The Nations Cup qualifiers, which began with two rounds of matches in June, still have four rounds to go.

The Confederation of African Football said that the third day of the match and the fourth day of qualifiers have been moved to March 20-28 next year, and the fifth round to June 12-20, 2023 while the sixth round will be held on September 4-12, 2023.
