AFC to strengthen partnership with India’s football federation

Kuala Lumpur, Oct 21 (BNA) The President of the Asian Football Confederation Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa met here today the President of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), Kalyan Chobe, along with the newly appointed AFC Secretary. – Major General Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran.


Sheikh Salman congratulated President Chobe on the recent mandate received by the Indian football family and commended FIFA for its exceptional organizational capabilities in organizing the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which is currently taking place in the cities of Bhubaneswar, Goa and Navi Mumbai.

Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim has praised the AFC’s capabilities to host the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022 earlier this year.


He also referred to the achievements of the men’s national team, which for the second time in a row took its place among the top 24 teams in the continent in the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™.


“I would like to place on record the gratitude of the AFC to the AFC for their commitment to organizing the many AFC competitions and we are confident that these events and competitions will continue to enhance the greater Indian football ecosystem,” said the AFC President.


He added, “In 2017, the Asian Football Confederation set out a blueprint and roadmap for Indian football to achieve more success and we are already seeing tremendous growth of the game in the country.”


“Looking forward, the AFC remains committed to working closely with the new FIFA leadership in charting a sustainable and prosperous future for the beautiful game of India,” Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim said.

President Chobe, who was a former national goalkeeper, thanked the AFC President for the Federation’s unwavering support over the years and pledged to deepen the spirit of partnership between the AFC and the AFC in the years to come.
