The Smart Investor Programme, launched in 2018, is a national awareness initiative for primary school students in partnership with INJAZ Bahrain. By engaging educational and recreational activities, the program seeks to provide young students with the fundamental concepts associated with money management, savings, and financial planning in order to assist them in making sound financial decisions.

After participating in the program, students will be able to identify different financial payment methods, such as debit and credit cards, cash, and checks, learn many financial literacy terms, as well as learn about the value of saving and gain information about many financial planning principles. The program consists of seven themed sessions designed to provide students with the following concepts: Think, Determine, Plan, Execute, Save, Advance, and Evaluate.

Bahrain Bourse offers a range of awareness programs to ensure access to every age group, which starts with the Smart Investor at the elementary level, and Want Quest at the high school and university level. A general financial education is also offered to the public through the Investment Academy in collaboration with the BIBF. In addition, the Capital Markets Apprenticeship Program is offered to graduates with on-the-job training and practical experience in capital markets. Bahrain Bourse constantly participates in the IOSCO Global Investor Week along with 78 other global exchanges and the annual “Financial Culture Bell” of the World Federation of Exchanges to promote financial literacy.

It is worth noting that the Smart Investor Program has been implemented for four consecutive academic years. The fourth edition of the program presented the National Smart Investor Challenge with the aim of seeking to enhance the participation of the program in both public and private schools. The competition succeeded in stimulating participation and competitive spirit, encouraging students to implement what they had learned into their programmes.
