300% increase in vehicle inspections at private centers

Manama, November 1 (BNA) The Director of Licensing Affairs at the General Directorate of Traffic, Colonel Muhammad Mahmoud, said that the number of people whose cars were checked in private technical centers increased by 300% in the first ten months of this year.

The percentage of vehicles that passed the technical examination was 98% compared to the same period last year.

He added that the General Traffic Department is studying new requests to open more centers for light and heavy vehicles in various governorates of the Kingdom.

He said that Ministerial Resolution No. 113/2018 regulates the assignment of vehicle technical inspection services to the private sector.

The decision aims to involve the private sector in providing the technical inspection service to relieve pressure on vehicle owners and enable them to use the technical inspection center in addition to the General Traffic Department.

He added that the special inspection centers are supervised by the General Traffic Department to ensure that they meet the technical requirements.

The aim is to ensure similar services and standards in all centers after qualification of technical examiners in private centers.
