3-time Olympic champion Kohei Uchimura of Japan retiring

Tokyo. Jan. 11/BUS/: Three-time Olympic gold medal winner Kohei Uchimura, Japanese gymnast has announced his retirement, the management company announced on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old won the gold medal in 2012 and 2016 as the best men’s gymnast in all areas, and also won the gold medal in 2016. He also won four Olympic silver medals, winning the gold medal 10 times at the World Championships. AP reports.

The 2020 Olympics, postponed for a year due to the pandemic, was a disappointment back home in Tokyo.

Uchimura fell into the playoffs in his signature event and failed to qualify for the finals.

His first Olympic Games were held in Beijing in 2008, and for more than a decade he has established an unparalleled standard of excellence in men’s gymnastics with a level of agility, precision and modesty.
