14th Bahrain Summer Festival kicks off July 11

Manama, July 10 (BNA) The Bahrain Summer Festival 2022 will kick off tomorrow under the slogan “Golden Edition”.

The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities is organizing the 14th edition of the festival until July 31, and it will be held in three locations: the Bahrain National Museum, the Arts Center and the Cultural Hall.

The festival features an extensive program of cultural activity that includes a series of workshops, an exciting program of performances and live arts and entertainment activities on the cultural hall stage, as well as a variety of mobile restaurants, Nakhool Star Competition, and much more, so that visitors of all ages can have a great time. .

The Bahrain Festival kicks off on July 11, 2022, in the Cultural Hall, which will host an evening of piano music for three rising Bahraini stars in a special show highlighting local talent. A multiple music award winner, Mohammed Al-Najjar has performed across the UK, studying piano and composing, with his last performances on the Bahrain National Theater earlier this year.

The Heritage Authority of the Saudi Ministry of Culture will present a number of workshops at the Arts Center that seek to introduce the famous handicrafts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It will also display other activities such as the Little Explorer initiative, which seeks to prepare a generation that understands, protects and celebrates the importance of antiquities, and the Naqsh project, which is concerned with reviving the Saudi national heritage represented in rock art and inscriptions.

In conjunction with the Bahrain Summer Festival, the “Young Craftsmen” initiative program will be launched in July 2022 at Al Jasra Handicraft Center. The initiative is concerned with teaching handicrafts and promoting the concept of heritage in support of efforts to revive traditional crafts in Bahrain. Over the course of four weeks and an average of two days per week, young people between the ages of 7 and 12 will participate in the program consisting of workshops focusing on aspects of Bahraini crafts. These workshops include pottery, wooden box making, palm basket making, and gypsum engraving, which are among the most popular crafts today.

The Cultural Hall will host the world’s most famous live science show, renovated, and better than ever for three consecutive days, on July 12, 13 and 14. With captivating and energizing experiences in the Cultural Hall, the live show “Brainiac Remixed” begins for the first time in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Watch these science adventurers bravely and curiously jump out of your safe seats, undertaking new experiments for all to enjoy!

On July 15, in cooperation with the Embassy of the State of Palestine in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Palestine TV “Beit Bayut” presents a production of “The Little Lantern” based on the story of the late Palestinian writer Ghassan Kanafani. The play follows a princess whose father, the king, wants to bring the sun into the palace after his death to control power – the play traces her exciting journey, leaving a meaningful message behind.

On July 16, the Culture Hall, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Kingdom of Bahrain, will host the Korean crew “MAKERS” to present a unique show that explores the most important events and features in the contemporary history of Korea, from historical movements to the world-famous K-Pop genre.

On July 21, in cooperation with the Embassy of the United States of America in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Missoula Children’s Theater presents an original musical version of Alice in Wonderland based on the story of Lewis Carroll.

On July 17, the audience will surely enjoy the Spanish Flamingo show at the Cultural Hall as well. For three consecutive days, UK circus troupe DaSilva Marionette will wow the audience with their aerial acrobatics on a flying trapeze, stunt biking, trampolines and laughter at trick-or-treat clowns!

The performances will continue this time with live Indonesian dance on July 25th. The show is organized in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This concert, composed by Angklung, a traditional bamboo musical instrument from West Java, Indonesia, blends beautifully with modern instruments such as guitar and piano for this performance. On July 29, 30 and 31, “Marco & Rolanda’s BuBBles Revolution” will be presented.

The Bahrain Summer Festival 2022 workshops will take place between the Cultural Hall, the Bahrain National Museum and the Arts Centre. Over the three weeks of the festival, more than 500 workshops will take place, ranging from crafts to plastic arts, sciences, music and more.

Bahrain Summer Festival presents an amazing continuous event throughout the festival period from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, which is the “Storytelling Corner”. In cooperation with the Isa Cultural Centre, the Saudi Ministry of Culture (Heritage Authority), and the UAE Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in addition to the various workshops being offered at the Arts Centre, children will be involved. An exciting journey to different worlds and diverse characters through storytelling, as well as a number of fun activities that combine entertainment, knowledge and education! In addition, in cooperation with Watani magazine – Ministry of the Interior, various activities will be offered to young children, educating them about the many duties towards the homeland. The magazine will be distributed throughout the festival period. On weekends, in an environment full of fun and creativity, kids will get a colorful face painting of Nakhoul or any of their favorite cartoon characters.

The kids’ favorite competition returns this year. In this edition of the Nakhool Star competition, children from 7 to 15 years old have the opportunity to showcase their artistic talents in the fields of music, singing and/or acting, to win the title of Nakhoul Star 2022! To contribute to discovering and developing the talents and creativity of our young stars, the Bahrain Summer Festival will be held on the 17th, 18th and 19th of July for all participating children, and a semi-final round on the 27th of July at 5:00. pm and 8:00 pm, and the announcement of this version is Nakhoul Star on July 28 at 5:00 pm. Everyone is invited to come and cheer the stars on the stage of the cultural hall.
