Zain Bahrain eyes Esports as educational platform for youngsters

Manama, June 28 (BNA) Zain Bahrain plans to use esports as an educational tool for talented youth segments of society.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa, Director of Communications and Investor Relations at Zain Bahrain, said during a press conference that Zain will continue to explore opportunities to improve the benefits of platforms such as esports to educate the youth segment of society.

Zain signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bahrain Esports Association and partnered with PLAYHERA to collaborate and jointly leverage their strengths to develop the gaming and esports environment in the Kingdom.

He said, “This tournament age group starts from 13 years and above and Zain’s focus will remain on educating young talents so that they must add a new dimension to their careers using technology and platforms such as esports.”

This cooperation aims to support and explore esports enthusiasts and gamers by organizing esports tournaments and tournaments and exploring the potential of esports in the Kingdom, which comes as part of Zain Bahrain’s future roadmap for the development of the gaming community.

In support of both entities, Zain Bahrain will also be able to organize and launch the summer esports tournament ranked number one in the Kingdom, which will provide an excellent opportunity to experience esports and bring another exciting event to the community in the esports calendar. The tournament is open to all players over the age of 13.”

Without the Bahrain Esports Association, Zain Bahrain will not be able to speed up and move forward with the top ranked esports championship in Bahrain to develop the esports culture in the Kingdom and enhance the presence of players in local and global competitions.

“Esports continues to grow exponentially in terms of popularity and participation, especially among youth, and the Middle East is one of the fastest growing gaming regions in the world. Zain Bahrain aims to explore and create opportunities for esports enthusiasts and gamers to participate in a team environment like traditional sports with All the benefits,” Sheikh Abdullah.

“We hope to play a key regional role as an esports enabler, to collectively grow the gaming environment, and give players the support and recognition they deserve to compete globally,” he said.

“Cooperation with the Bahrain Esports Association and PLAYHERA will play a key role in discovering and supporting new local gaming talent, organizing esports tournaments, and building a vibrant gaming scene, reflecting Vision 2030 towards improving youth skills.”

Hussain Al Kooheji, President of the Bahrain Esports Association, said that they are proud of their partnership with Zain Bahrain to provide more opportunities for local players and esports enthusiasts and to build and accelerate the growth of esports in the Kingdom.

“We are looking forward to the start of the first-ranked esports summer tournament in the Kingdom,” he said.

Nayef Malaeb, Chairman and CEO of PLAYHERA MENA, said that by collaborating with Zain Bahrain, they will be able to leverage technology, experience and market knowledge to ensure that Bahrain’s national esports team is properly built from the ground up.
