World Food Programme lifts suspension of operations in Sudan

Beirut, May 1 (BNA): The United Nations World Food Program said today, Monday, that it will immediately lift its suspension of operations in Sudan, which had been imposed after the tragic death of a member of its team.

“WFP is rapidly resuming programs to provide the life-saving assistance that so many need right now,” WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain wrote on Twitter.

The WFP said on April 16 that it had temporarily suspended all operations in Sudan after three of its staff were killed in clashes between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces the day before.
