Manama, Feb. 13 (BNA): Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and the United Nations at the British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Lord Tariq Ahmed, confirmed from Wimbledon the continuation of cooperation between the two countries. He added that work will be intensified with the center to spread messages of mutual respect as a basis for spreading religious freedom and peaceful coexistence.
Lord Ahmed said in a special statement to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA): “The King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence presents a global model for interfaith dialogue and mutual respect for all, which reflects positively on the lives of many, and this is what distinguishes Bahrain. It is a country that embraces many races that belong to different religions and beliefs.”
He added, “Our cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain and the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence will continue in all available fields.”
He also said that he is looking forward to strengthening relations with the King Hamad Global Center, stressing that the center is the ideal partner in organizing conferences related to interfaith dialogue and meeting stakeholders from all over the world.
He also praised Bahrain’s distinguished atmosphere of coexistence.
Vice President of the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence, Betsy Mathewson, expressed her thanks and appreciation to Lord Ahmed for his visit to the center, stressing the depth of the strong Bahraini-British relations.
She indicated that the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence is looking forward to strengthening its cooperation with the United Kingdom, within the framework of the distinguished relations between the two friendly countries, and in line with the center’s role in highlighting and affirming the Kingdom’s achievements. The importance of the principles of coexistence and freedom of religion and belief as pillars of human rights.
She said, “Statistics indicate that countries that enjoy high levels of freedom of religion and belief enjoy higher economic prosperity. In light of what the world is currently going through, countries must exchange the values of peaceful coexistence and implement them on the ground.”
During the meeting, the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence and Lord Ahmed of Wimbledon discussed ways to promote and strengthen cooperation and relations between the two countries.
