Turkey hit Gibraltar for six in World Cup qualifier

Istanbul, November 14 (BNA) Turkish striker Khalil Dervisoglu scored a double to lead his team to a 6-0 victory over Gibraltar, which includes 10 players, to continue its battle for a place in the Qatar World Cup 2022.

Galatasaray teammate Kerem Akturkoglu and Atalanta defender Merih Demiral also scored a goal for the home team along with Fenerbahce striker Serdar Dorsun and Sassuolo defender Mert Mulder, Reuters reported.

Turkey is second in Group G with 18 points, two points behind the Netherlands, who tied 2-2 with Montenegro.

Norway, who also has 18 points, are tied at home with Latvia.

Gibraltar was reduced to 10 players in the 23rd minute, when defender Jaycee Olivero was sent off after a reckless confrontation with Turkey full back Zeki Celik.

Gibraltar is still looking for its first-ever points in the World Cup qualifiers, having lost all 19 of its matches so far.
