Manama, April 14 (BNA): Under the patronage of the Minister of Tourism, Fatima bint Jaafar Al-Sairafi, the second edition of the Manama Gold Festival 2023 kicked off last night, in the presence of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa. Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiques (BACA), members of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, Dr. Nasser Qaedi, CEO of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), members of the Manama Souq Development Committee, representatives of the business community, and gold dealers.


The Minister of Tourism placed the golden ribbon on the podium to light up the area for the official opening of the festival. Starting from April 13 until May 27, the festival will witness the participation of more than 300 gold shops in the Manama Souk, presenting weekly, instant and major prizes, in addition to media and art installations on the history of Bahraini gold by Bahraini artists and designers, hanging festive items among gold shops, and organizing a pop-up market and hosting live music performances.


The opening ceremony included a short video highlighting the heritage of Bahrain and the legacy of the Manama market in the gold industry, in addition to the basic elements and activation of the Manama Gold Festival in 2023. After the opening ceremony, the minister went on a tour of the market. Manama, where I saw a variety of artworks by Bahraini artists depicting the kingdom’s gold craft.


On this occasion, the Minister of Tourism said: “The Manama Golden Festival makes an inspiring contribution to promoting the objectives of the tourism strategy (2022-2026) to increase the contribution of the tourism sector to the gross domestic product, highlight Bahrain’s position as a global tourism center, increase the number of targeted countries to attract more tourists, and diversify Tourism products, by presenting the Manama market as one of the oldest markets regionally and globally, with authenticity and a long history in the gold industry for decades.


For his part, Dr. Nasser Qaidi, CEO of the Bahrain Electricity and Water Authority, said: “We are proud to launch the second edition of the Manama Gold Festival, through which we seek to highlight the wonderful history of the Manama market in the gold industry and its uniqueness around the world, benefiting from the success of the first edition, and this will be The festival is certainly a great addition to the BTEA calendar of events, which focus on the diversity of tourism products and the revitalization of the Manama market and attract an increasing number of tourists from all over the world.
