Tesla raises Full Self Driving software price to $12,000 in U.S., Musk says

Washington, Jan. 8 (BNA): Tesla (TSLA.O) CEO Elon Musk tweeted Friday that the electric car maker will raise the US price for its advanced driver assistance program called “full autonomous driving” to $12,000 on Jan. 3. . 17.

The 20% price hike comes less than two years after Tesla raised prices for fully autonomous driving (FSD) to $10,000 from $8,000 in 2020, Reuters reported.

“Tesla FSD price rises to $12,000 on Jan. 17. Only in the US.” Musk tweeted.

Musk also added that the price of a monthly subscription will rise when the FSD is rolled out on a large scale.

“The price of FSD will increase the closer we get to the release of the FSD Production Code,” he wrote on Twitter.

Tesla is expanding a beta version of its upgraded FSD, a system of driving assistance features — such as automatically changing lanes and cornering — but the features don’t make vehicles autonomous.
