Manama, May 3 (BNA): Tamkeen Labor Fund announced its support for ExpressMed Laboratories, a pathology laboratory that provides services to hospitals, clinics, private clinics and research facilities.
Through Tamkeen’s support, the laboratories aim to expand the Bahraini workforce and provide 19 trainings and 25 job opportunities for local talent. They also plan to expand their operations and test samples domestically, instead of sending them abroad. In addition, the laboratory will include a training center for advanced laboratory technologies and aims to host international conferences for interested stakeholders in the Kingdom and abroad. The facilities will also allow for training partnerships with local and regional universities and colleges to offer students relevant materials in the field.

ExpressMed Laboratories is the first laboratory in the Kingdom of Bahrain to provide advanced laboratory services and has been accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). It should be noted that the customer base of ExpressMed Laboratories has expanded both in the GCC countries, as well as internationally. In addition, the laboratory aims to train and employ local talents in the field of healthcare. Services offered by Express Med Laboratories include histopathology/cytology, nephrology, dermatology, clinical pathology, molecular pathology, genetics, electron microscopy, research services, and COVID-19 PCR testing services. Results are recorded by highly qualified and experienced pathologists with different subspecialties. Hence, the methodologies are performed by highly skilled laboratory technologists and technicians by following standard operating procedures.
The private healthcare sector employs 2% of the total workforce and contributes 1.5% to the Kingdom’s GDP. The expansion of healthcare facilities and new private healthcare clinics is in response to the growing population and the growing need for specialized healthcare.
Tamkeen recently announced initiatives to support increased recruitment and wages for Bahraini doctors. This is in line with the strategic objectives for the year that focus on four main priorities: facilitating increased economic participation of Bahrainis, providing training that is in line with labor market needs in new and emerging skills, as well as developing institutions and the ecosystem, all of which lead to a positive economic impact and sustainable growth.
