Tamkeen renews its cooperation with Bahrain Down Syndrome Society to train, employ Bahraini students through ‘Train and Place Program’

Manama, Jan. 29 (BNA): The Labor Fund “Tamkeen” has renewed its cooperation agreement with the Bahraini Down Syndrome Society to train and employ dozens of students with Down syndrome over the next two years and help place them in specialized positions in cooperation. with many private enterprises.

This partnership was first launched in 2018 to ensure that all members of society are involved in Tamkeen’s programs and initiatives, and help them become active participants in Bahrain’s development journey. So far, the association has been able to successfully train and employ about 25 students, which reflected positively on the integration of individuals into the labor market.

This initiative has been redesigned in line with the requirements of the modern labor market to ensure the efficiency of the support provided in promoting the integration of various members of Bahraini society and facilitating their integration for the first time into the labor market. In addition, it aims to enhance career advancement opportunities for participants in the first edition of the program.

On this occasion, Her Excellency Mrs. Maha Mafiz, CEO of the Labor Fund “Tamkeen”, emphasized Tamkeen’s role in supporting all segments of society, saying: “In Tamkeen, we are keen to establish qualitative strategic partnerships that contribute to providing the necessary skills development opportunities for Bahraini talents.” And she continued: “We are fully committed to our mission of making Bahrainis the first choice for employment in the private sector, and to fulfill this mandate we offer specialized training opportunities that help enhance the skills of our local talents and we will continue our efforts to integrate individuals with Down syndrome into specialized jobs within the labor market, thus making It helps facilitate their participation in the overall development process.”

In addition, Mr. Adel Abdullah Fakhro, Chairman of the Bahrain Down Syndrome Society, expressed his gratitude for the renewal of this cooperation, which will continue to support people with special needs and increase their job opportunities in the labor market. He explained that this project is the first of its kind in the Arab region, which contributed during the past years to qualifying and employing a group of students, which reflected positively on their performance and interaction with all members of society according to their capabilities and capabilities.

This program has been developed with the support of several dedicated professionals in the community, who also ensure the availability of supervisors who will be with the students during their work.

Many organizations have already recruited graduates from this program, including the National Bank of Bahrain, Al Salam Bank, Carrefour, McDonald’s and Royal Bahrain Hospital, among others, and it is expected to add more companies in the near future.
