Manama, February 1 (BNA) The Labor Fund “Tamkeen” announced that work is underway to launch the “Skills of Bahrain” initiative based on the directives of the Supreme Council for the Development of Education and Training headed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak. Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, who discussed the progress of the project so far during the last meeting.
The initiative is currently being implemented by Tamkeen in cooperation with many relevant government and private agencies involved in education, training and professional labor market requirements.
“Skills Bahrain” is the first comprehensive national initiative that aims to set professional standards for professions and professions in Bahrain, and meet the growing demand for qualified nationals across a range of different sectors.
He pointed out that “Skills Bahrain” aims to provide the necessary resources and tools to support vocational guidance towards the professions and skills required by the labor market, thus facilitating a smooth transition from education to employment.
Tamkeen CEO, Hussain Muhammad Rajab, praised the initiative and highlighted its importance in enhancing the value of professional and vocational skills for the development of the national economy and sectors with high potential.
The Skills Bahrain team is working to build a clear skills framework for the various levels of experience required in the Bahrain labor market. He pointed out that the initiative began its work to assess the needs of many sectors with high potentials in line with the national economic recovery plan, with the aim of providing updated and comprehensive labor market and job data.
He added that work has already begun in the financial services and communications sectors, as they are considered among the most important contributors to the labor market.
This will be complemented by the addition of new sectors in the future, including a wide range of industries each with the required skills and assessment models.
For his part, Mohammed Ahmadi, Director of Skills Bahrain, said that the initiative can be described as a “skills accelerator”, especially for sectors with high potential, as it explores current and future skill requirements based on continuous analysis of labor market data and information. It also supports the development of the learning and teaching environment, as well as the preparation of skilled and globally competitive Bahraini talent.
He stated that the “Skills of Bahrain” initiative began last August, as it began to build relationships with business owners and relevant government institutions through the formation of committees for each sector to determine the requirements of the labor market.
The work of these committees is based on recognizing the needs of business owners in the private sector in terms of skills and career paths, the necessary measures to develop their sectors, and the development of Bahraini talent to drive innovation and improve productivity. It will also contribute to providing skilled graduates to the labor market from the education system as it will bring closer alignment of employers’ skills requirements with programs offered by education providers.”
