Sustainable Development Minister opens workshop

Manama, Feb. 12 (BNA): The first consultative workshop was opened today, which sheds light on the second voluntary review of the sustainable development goals in Bahrain.


The workshop was inaugurated by the Minister of Sustainable Development, Noor bint Ali Al-Khalif, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, and the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Bahrain, Khaled Al-Miqwad.


The second national review will be presented during the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, to be held in New York City in July under the theme “Accelerating Recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic and Full Implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.”


The workshop, which targets the public sector, is attended by thirty government agencies. Other workshops will be held in the coming weeks with the participation of representatives from civil society, the legislative authority, academics and the private sector.


Other bodies supporting women’s issues will also participate, in addition to youth bodies

The workshop provided a platform to highlight Bahrain’s commitment and continuous efforts to achieve sustainability, in light of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Khalifa Crown Prince and Prime Minister.


The Second Voluntary National Review for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals is an opportunity to highlight progress made in implementing the 2030 Agenda since the Kingdom prepared its first Voluntary National Review in 2018.
