Manama, May 22 (BNA): The Public Prosecution said that the Minor Criminal Court sentenced one of the defendants to one year in prison and a fine of 21,000 dinars for violating Law No. 7/2022 regarding environmental protection and the ministries’ chief prosecutor. announced public bodies.

The suspect committed criminal offenses such as filling the sea with environmentally prohibited waste.

Details of the case reveal that the Public Prosecution office previously received a notification from the Supreme Council for the Environment stating that during periodic inspection visits to the facilities under its supervision in the western border area, it found that the defendants had polluted the sea coast and waters. , By throwing environmentally prohibited waste into the sea, which consists of large quantities of tree trunks and construction waste, in addition to quantities of nylon, in violation of the permit granted to him and the requirements stipulated in the Environmental Impact Assessment Form.

Accordingly, legal measures were taken against the defendant, as he was urged to stop the dumping work, and to remove the waste scattered throughout the marine environment surrounding the landfill.

The Public Prosecution began its investigations immediately upon receiving the notification, and referred the accused to the Minor Criminal Court, where he appeared before the judiciary.
