Supreme Council for Women, US Congress delegation hold talks

Manama, October 14 (BNA) The General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Women held a meeting with a delegation from the US Congress on a visit to Bahrain to learn about the Kingdom’s achievements, including the role of Bahraini women in national development. and social stability.

The meeting comes within the framework of regional and international cooperation and partnership initiatives undertaken by the General Secretariat to activate bilateral and multilateral cooperation agreements and frameworks with all countries in the areas of women’s empowerment and advancement and gender balance.

Sheikha Dina bint Rashid Al Khalifa, Assistant Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women, expressed the council’s aspiration to enhance cooperation with all relevant institutions in the United States, especially research and scientific matters related to the advancement of women in both countries.

She stressed the keenness of the Supreme Council for Women to strengthen its relations with international and regional organizations and to exchange experiences in various fields related to women.

Sheikha Dina said that the Supreme Council for Women, which was established 20 years ago, has established a prominent presence in women’s work and global achievements, and established effective international partnerships.

In her explanation, she referred to the latest form of cooperation with UN Women to launch the award of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa for the Advancement of Bahraini Women, whose second edition was announced on the first of this July.

Sheikha Dina called on the American delegation to promote the award in various American circles, especially as it is a prestigious international award to support global efforts to enhance the status of women.

The delegation members affirmed their interest in the Bahraini experience in supporting women and ensuring their advancement in various fields in the context of Bahraini society and culture.
