Manama, Dec. 3 (BNA): The progress of work on strategic projects was highlighted during the periodic meeting held by the Supreme Council of Health.
Chaired by the President of the Supreme Council of Health, Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the meeting was attended by the Minister of Oil and Environment, the Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Dinah, and the Minister of Health, Dr. Jalila bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan. , and other officials.
Lt. Gen. Sheikh Mohammed affirmed the government’s commitment to providing full health coverage in light of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow-up of His Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Dr. Hassan reviewed the priority projects and initiatives aimed at supporting the health sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and highlighted the national health insurance scheme “My Health”, the information technology health database project, the planned central store for medicines and health supplies, in addition to the restructuring of the General Secretariat Health and National Health Information Systems.
She updated the session on the major projects implemented by Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) to expand the accident and emergency department and intensive care unit to include 123 beds from the current 80 beds.
It also outlined plans to extend working hours to include the evening period for operations and the radiology department, expand operating rooms, and replace and maintain medical devices in the Salmaniya Medical Complex.
It also highlighted other projects aimed at developing health services in government hospitals, providing high-level health care to all members of society, and establishing a financial revenue cycle.
The minister highlighted other ongoing projects, including the National Genome Center, Cervical Cancer Control Program, which aims to introduce the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine for boys and girls at the age of 12-13 years to prevent these diseases.
Other current schemes aim to develop public health laboratories, privatize licensing of food handling shops and vehicles, establish a customer service center, digital transformation of public health services, restructure the Ministry of Health, and operate the Muharraq Private Health Center. .
Dr. Hassan also highlighted the projects implemented by the National Health Regulatory Authority, which mainly include a comprehensive electronic system for registering medicines and pharmaceutical preparations, and an electronic drug monitoring system to follow up on side effects and risks of circulating medicines. and improving patient care and safety with regard to the use of medicines.
