Spain approves COVID booster shot for over 70s

Madrid, October 6 / BNA / The Spanish Ministry of Health approved today, Tuesday, the administration of third doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, which are based on the same messenger RNA technology, to people over the age of 70.

Spain has fully vaccinated about 78 percent of its population, and authorized a booster injection from six months after people received their second vaccine, the ministry said in a statement. Reuters reports that the campaign to manage the reinforcements will begin at the end of October.

The state has already allowed booster doses for cancer patients, nursing home residents and other vulnerable groups.
