South Korea targets two gold medals at Beijing Games

Seoul, Dec. 24 (BNA): The South Korean Olympic Committee has set a goal of getting two gold medals and a 15th place at the Beijing Winter Games next year, Reuters quoted a report by Yonhap News Agency as saying.

South Korea won five gold medals when it hosted the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, and its combined tally of 17 medals, including eight silver and four bronze, was its best at the Winter Olympics.

Three of Pyeongchang’s five gold medals came at short track in speed skating, but they might be without double Olympic champion Shim Suk Hee, who has been suspended for two months, in Beijing.

The women’s curling team, the 2018 silver medalist, booked its place in the 2022 Games last weekend.

The Beijing Olympics start on February 4.
