South Korea puts Japan back on export ‘white list’

Seoul, April 24 (BNA): South Korea’s Ministry of Industry said that South Korea on Monday re-included Japan to its “white list” of its trusted trading partners, three years after the cancellation, in a move to improve bilateral economic and diplomatic relations between them.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy issued a revision of its public notice on exports and imports of strategic items on the day calling for the restoration of Japan’s express trade status, allowing companies that export strategic items to Japan to enjoy shorter revision time and simpler paperwork.

The South Korean News Agency (Yonhap) added that this step raised the number of countries enjoying preferential treatment in trade to 29, including the United States, France and Britain.
