Manama, May 6 (BNA): Shura Council Speaker Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh praised the role of the national press in highlighting the development achievements of the Kingdom of Bahrain under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Al-Saleh praised the steps achieved by the national press over eight decades, praising the role of the Fourth Authority in promoting freedom of opinion and expression, in light of the reform project launched by His Majesty the King.
He said: “The press contributes to highlighting the national achievements, government programs and initiatives led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.”
In a statement on the occasion of Bahrain Press Day, which falls on May 7 of each year, His Highness praised the journalists and media professionals who build on the achievements of generations and contribute to supporting the national press.
He said that Bahrain Press Day is an opportunity to appreciate the efforts of the press and media community and their contributions to promoting freedom of opinion and expression.
He urged the press and the media to exert more efforts to enhance respect for human rights and consolidate Bahrain’s ancient heritage, which lays the foundations for coexistence, tolerance, peace and mutual respect between peoples and religions.
