Shura Chairman hails HRH Crown Prince, Prime Minister’s speech in COP26

Manama, November 9 (BNA) Shura Council Speaker Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh praised the speech of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26). .

The Chairman of the Board of Directors indicated that the goals announced in His Highness’ speech at the opening of the fourth session of the fifth legislative term regarding the most prominent global challenges posed by climate change, reflect the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Al-Saleh praised the Kingdom’s initiatives announced by His Highness the Crown Prince regarding the Kingdom’s contribution to achieving zero neutrality by 2060 and reducing emissions by 30% in 2035 through decarbonization, enhancing energy efficiency, doubling renewable energy sources and decarbonizing solutions by quadrupling mangroves. Trees, doubling the number of trees in general in Bahrain and direct investment in carbon sequestration technologies.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors highlighted the cooperation between the public and private sectors, which reflects the level of progress made by Bahrain in achieving sustainable development goals related to the environment and the reduction of climate change.

He wished more achievements to enhance the Kingdom’s position in international environmental indicators, stressing that the Kingdom’s efforts will continue to preserve the rights of future generations and achieve global environmental security.
