Manama, Dec. 23 (BNA): The Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research held a celebration of the centenary of cinema in Bahrain (1922-2022) in its main hall in Muharraq.
The Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Sheikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research, Sheikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, delivered a speech in which she thanked the organizers of the ceremony.
The event focused on the history of cinema in Bahrain. He also highlighted the role played by Al Gosaibi Cinema and Bapco in promoting this art throughout the Kingdom in the 1930s and 1940s.
The ceremony also included an exhibition reflecting the history of cinema, which was supervised by photographers Hanan Hassan Al Khalifa, Asma Jassim Murad, and Camille Zakaria.
The ceremony also included the screening of the Moroccan film “Fatima, Sultana Unforgettable”, in the presence of its director, Mohamed Abdel Rahman Al Tazi.
The film depicts the life and established academic legacy of Moroccan writer and sociologist Fatima Mernissi, who visited the Sheikh Ibrahim Center twice.
