We are currently looking for Sr. Project Manager with proven experience managing mega projects. The position is to lead the project management team assigned to you for a high-level project for which we have been appointed as Project Managers for the Construction Phase.

You will be required to provide input from senior management on all matters relating to project delivery and be fully responsible for the successful delivery of services to the assignment(s) assigned to you. You will be required to act as a single point of contact between the project/construction manager and members of the internal and external delivery team, possibly across multiple projects, to ensure that the required project objectives are delivered.

This is a senior leadership position that requires professional ability and inherent motivation. You have the skills required to direct meetings and present discussion to encourage thinking in the broader business context and are responsible for the tasks assigned to members of your project team. You are willing and able to perform your duties diligently in accordance with the quality standards set by the Company and comply with the Company’s policies and work regulations and are committed to their implementation and continuous improvement at all times.

Your experience, guidance, and knowledge as a project management expert should position you to provide significant benefit to the project delivery team and client.

Generally, you will have a total experience of 15+ years, ideally with 5+ years working experience in the area.

Ideally, you should have a degree in construction management and/or civil engineering and have membership/charter status from a construction related professional body.

You will be responsible for at least the following areas and duties in your role;

Planning / Scheduling

Implement an effective high-level project management framework and project implementation statement.
Provides direction and advice to other employees regarding preparation of the project implementation plan, content review and ultimate responsibility for content prior to its release into the project.
Define and implement project management and control standards.
Monitor, review and ultimately take responsibility for the content of the project’s main program.
Unsure that the major program structure is aligned with the WBS of the envisaged or agreed project and provides strategic guidance for the formulation of the schedule.
Monitor and oversee progress status updates for the major program and, when necessary, coordinate with project stakeholders to lead delay mitigation strategies and improvement initiatives.
Monitor and ensure that the contract program under construction contracts is implemented, fully reviewed and approved by the necessary project stakeholders, and that all reviews and/or progress updates are fully reviewed and approved.
Take an active and leadership role in controlling ‘time’ on the project, ensuring a complete early warning protocol and review, and overall ensuring implementation of the project structure and personal ownership of changes.

Risk Management

Ensure that there is a formal project risk management process in place, using the Building Management Department’s agreed risk register and management process.
Hold, chair and lead the risk meeting and actively participate in the formulation of mitigation and control measures.
– Regularly discuss risk management
You will likely be responsible for the technical and commercial performance of the engagement on behalf of the company.
When initiating, make a full handover from the Bid Manager / Responsible Manager and ensure that all engagement risks are identified and control measures are in place.
Lead the formulation of the internal project management plan (as stipulated in the BMS) that defines internal arrangements around delivery, resource management, financial management, and creation/ownership of the PSR.

Construction phase management

Manage relationships between all project stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and results
Manage the performance of the design team and site delivery team for delegated responsibilities
Develop an effective and comprehensive strategy to address key issues that may arise with the site delivery team
Ensure that the supervision team and the on-site delivery team receive necessary stakeholder decisions in a timely manner
Establish a mechanism to ensure issues are resolved collaboratively with the site delivery team, which will include regular dialogue with contractors, teamwork, and risk sharing
Lead and lead progress meetings with contractor and supervision consultant to proactively manage the project and mitigate any delivery issues before they affect delivery
Monitoring the provision of contract management services by others, ensuring that this protects the client as much as possible.
Proactively monitor this service to ensure effective claims protection and management by issuing contractual correspondence and maintaining records.

Note that if Faithful + Gould fulfills the role of Contract Manager, more specific roles and responsibilities for the project will need to be defined in the Project Management Plan section, and specific approval from the designated Regional Manager will be necessary.

commercial management

Take overall responsibility for the “cost” component of the project, even if it is through the monitoring and management of a third party cost consultant. If the engagement also includes cost advisory services, the specific responsibilities for the project will need to be included in the project management plan and discussed with your assigned regional manager.
Ensure that there is effective budget control throughout the project, and that this is reviewed and updated at least on a monthly basis.
Where applicable, leads and oversees the value management strategy.
Overseeing contract awarding and review on behalf of the client.
Negotiate and transfer contracts as required by the project(s)
Manage the commercial performance of the Faithful + Gould project in line with corporate governance requirements.

Customer Management

As a key team member of the company assigned to the project, you will have overall responsibility for managing and facilitating a proactive and positive relationship with the client.
– Identifying and resolving disputes quickly and reasonably, taking the leading role in resolving any disputes that may arise.
Lead the client engagement process, through regular meetings, presentations and discussions during project delivery. Be comfortable in leading such scenarios and demonstrate exemplary communication skills, representing the company well and in a professional manner in all situations.
Develop and maintain excellent relationships with client representatives, consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders

Report

Receive and review detailed project reports from the on-site design and delivery team
Establish formal arrangements for reporting on project progress to the client and the company
Maintain updated project skateboard sheets and project team resumes for use by the company

Business Development

– Identify potential business development opportunities and communicate them to the company
Actively promote the company’s interests in the industry.
