SCW Secretary-General appreciates approval of Bahrain’s proposal to form GCC women’s affairs committee

Manama, May 16 (BNA): Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women, Hala Al-Ansari, expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s appreciation for the efforts made by the GCC General Secretariat in response to the Kingdom’s proposal. Formation of the Committee of the Cooperation Council for Women’s Affairs.

Al-Ansari’s remarks came on the occasion of the first meeting of the Standing Committee for Women’s Affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which was held in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.

Al-Ansari expressed her hope that the meeting would be a reliable starting point for the establishment of the committee, which will focus on improving cooperation between the relevant national authorities through exchanging experiences in the field of women’s advancement in the GCC countries.

Al-Ansari said, “The tasks assigned to the committee indicate the interest of the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in the important position of women in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which is reflected in the total gains for the advancement of women.”

Sheikha Dina bint Rashid Al Khalifa, Assistant Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women, represented the Kingdom at the first meeting of the Standing Committee for Women’s Affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in the Sultanate of Oman.
