Salah grabs winner as Liverpool beats Forest 3-2

London, April 22 (BNA): Liverpool gave up their lead twice before scoring a goal through Mohamed Salah, as their 3-2 victory over relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest kept hopes of ending the English Premier League on Saturday.

Diogo Jota put Liverpool 1-0 and 2-1 ahead at Anfield only with goals from Neco Williams – the former Liverpool player – and Morgan Gibbs-White to lift Forest’s level.

The last five goals in a 23-minute period of the second half were converted by Salah, who slotted home a Trent Alexander-Arnold free kick in the 70th minute for his 16th league career, reports the Associated Press.

Liverpool jumped to seventh place in the standings, six points behind Newcastle in fourth place and three points behind Tottenham in fifth place. Newcastle hosts Tottenham on Sunday.

Forest, who sit penultimate, have remained winless since February 5 and have lost six of their last seven matches, leaving manager Steve Cooper under great pressure after owner Evangelos Marinakis told him results had to improve. This month.

Brennan Johnson could have scored the equalizer for Forest when he tipped substitute goalkeeper Alisson Becker but the ball bounced off the crossbar.

Jota justified Jurgen Klopp’s decision to name an unchanged team for the third consecutive match, for the first time since January 2020.
