Sabalenka seeking revenge in Madrid showdown with Swiatek

Madrid, May 5 (BNA): Aryna Sabalenka said she is enjoying the challenge of facing Iga Swiatek in the Madrid Open final on Saturday, having lost in her mind to the world number one in Stuttgart for the title last month.

Swiatek outlasted Belarusian Sabalenka 6-3 6-4 to win the Stuttgart title in a repeat of last year’s final to confirm her status as favorite for the French Open later this month, Reuters reports.

World No. 2 Sabalenka said she was ready for another tough battle in the pair’s final meeting, as she tried to improve on her 2-5 win-loss record against Swiatek.

Sabalenka, who beat Swatek in the season-ending WTA finals in 2021 and 2022, said improving her serve last year gave her confidence in her ability to defeat the Polish player.
