Job purpose

The position is responsible for receiving merchandise by ensuring that the hotel receives the quality and quantity of merchandise requested at acceptable prices.

Basic Responsibilities

Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with applicable company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of the position.
Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
– On receipt of goods, ensure that delivery is made in accordance with the terms of the purchase order and standard purchase specifications (quantity, quality, price, etc.).
Ensures that appropriate receiving procedures are adhered to at all times:
The scales used in receiving merchandise are properly tested and adjusted on a regular basis.
– A record of the weight of the various empty containers is kept to facilitate verification of the net weight of received items. This will avoid mishandling items such as fruit that may spoil the food.
– Items are individually counted and checked when received.
– Ensures the quality of the goods.
– If necessary, consult the chef or the purchasing group to check the items for quality and uniformity.
– All items received must be checked against standard purchase specifications.
– Stamp the receipt affixes to each invoice or delivery receipt and records the amount of verification and the signature of the recipient.
Ensures that items are delivered to the correct departments (kitchen, shop, restaurant, etc.).
Consistent late deliveries are brought to the attention of Group Procurement Department.
Frequently delivered merchandise that is of substandard quality or of low quantity is presented to the group purchasing department for necessary action.
Ensures that all returned items are stored properly.
– All returns items are issued with a Merchandise Return Note approved by the Cost Controller and Receiving and Handling Officer.
– ensures the daily record of temperatures for;

Distribution vehicles.
Prepares summary receipt report and submits it to Finance.
Monitor open purchase orders and report to the cost controller.
Ensures adherence to HACCP standards and requirements at all times.
